Chemicals
have become such a part of our world that it would probably be easier
to list the products that do not contain them. The unfortunate reality
is that many of our everyday products contain volatile organic chemicals
(VOCs) that evaporate and have the potential to cause healthy issues
particularly for those with a low tolerance. Here are 3 things you can
do to minimize the number of chemicals and reduce the effect they have.

Select
Green Products—Finding products that contain fewer or no chemicals
will probably be time consuming at first, but the results will make it
time well spent. As you search for products you will find that you will
uncover more avenues that will lead to finding products and stores that
specialize in products that promote green living.

And even though
starting this process may seem like a hassle, remember that there are
those who, for whatever reason, don’t have the option to choose the
products that affect their lives. Hopefully that fact alone will make
you cheerful as you do your research.

Allow Off Site
Off-Gassing—Whenever possible, let products off-gas in a warehouse
before they are brought into your home. This will take pre-planning, but
it is so worth it. Carpet is an excellent example of how this can
drastically reduce the amount of chemicals that invade your home.

Clean
The Air—As tedious as the first two suggestions in this article can
be, they probably seem like a piece of cake if you didn’t have a chance
to explore those options. So many people find themselves in a home they
love, but the fumes make it impossible for them to enjoy or even stay
there.

Whether
it is because you’ve moved into a new home where multiple products are
off-gassing, or whether done because of a remodel where the contractor
used adhesive, glue, or paint that makes it impossible to live in.

Opening
the windows and exhausting the fumes can work if the climate is not
extremely cold or hot, but introducing outside air often means
exchanging one chemical fumes for different ones.

In order to
effectively clean the air and assure that air quality remains high, a
cleaner with a carbon filter is essential. And even as effective as
carbon is, to adequately filter the volatile organic chemicals an
additive is needed to enhance the carbon’s ability to filter chemicals.

It
is essential that the cleaner be able to operate 24 hours a day to
prevent fumes from accumulating to eye stinging levels. A split

these fumes.
